2007 PS GRAND ALUMNI HOMECOMING

The Purisima School Alumni Association, headed by its president Ms. Sheila Portillo, successfully mounted the 2007 Grand Alumni Homecoming on Easter Sunday, 8 April 2007 at Tago Gym.
The Silver Jubilarians, Batch 82, came, though not in droves, but in respectable number considering that this batch "does not regularly attend" such kind of gathering. When they were presented with certificates, they went on to lead the singing of "St. Paul's Hymn." It was a trip down memory lane, and it never felt so good singing it.
After the speech of Fr. Glenn Infiesto, who's leaving Purisima School for St. Vincent College in Mangagoy, an on the spot pledging session was made. Atty. Tapas M. Luna readily shelled out 20 crisp 1,000-peso bills. Engr. Vidal Luna followed suit by pledging, on behalf of his batch, another P20,000. Mayluna Pilapil-Simplicio, the Silver Jubilarians' spokesperson, pledged another P20,000 after their batchmate from Canada called and commited to send P15,000; the P5,000 would have to come from the rest of the Silver Jubilarians.
Engr. Lalo Acevedo facilitated the business meeting which centered on the critiquing of the PSAA By-Laws prior to ratification. The night ended without the by-laws being ratified because everybody was clamoring to dance and get a chance at the Videoke machine.
The videoke singing contest brought the house down especially when Benjamin Martinez crooned his winning piece, SOLITAIRE. Lilibeth Salinas of Batch '90 won 2nd place while Wince Pareja of Batch '78 won third.
But it was Batch '90 who stole the thunder from everybody when Maximiano Calub and Levin Pilapil took center stage and did their own version of Curacha. And also, Silver Jubilarian Joel Ochavillo whose antics elicited laughs from attendees.
It was sad to note that the golden jubilarians (Batch '57) did not attend.

SURVIVOR AFTER 25 YEARS, AIMING FOR 50...PUHON!
