Happy Birthday to a dear Friend....

Since graduating from High School we met each other for the nth time. It was an event so special to reckon with. Little did I know such meeting would signal to be our last before we would see each other again whenever. She, at that time was preparing to leave for her destination anyone had said too far even to imagine.

Period of adjustment living in a new country prompted me to go to Phils and had Teriyaki be born in Manila rather than in Aust. And so, before heading back to Aust I went home to Tago not knowing that a great and pleasant surprise awaited me. At our house we met again. I could very well remember that Teriyaki was then 3 months old. We hug tightly, kissed each other, shed tears and what have you. Suffice it to say, such actions temporarily satisfied our yearning desire for to see each other again. However, such meeting proved ephemeral as again she was soon be heading back to her new adopted country.

January of 1994 in Australia, our phone rang. "Hello"….. "Can I please speak with Lalaine", said the melodious voice. "Speaking"! "This is Lalaine", I said…. Bigtuyon, ton tala….Blah… blah.. blah…blah….blah….blah… Damoe na dayon ang amo estorya. Yadto na time 2 pa ka buwan ako min-abot from Philippines since we last met in Tago.
"How does it feel to be xx years old?" Said the lady at my end. "Sus katiguwang na nato amo? Pero amo da sa gihapon an ako pamati, bata da!" She mused further. "So am I", I said.

Folks, 14 years had passed now. Since then this formidable and admirable friend unceasingly & tirelessly makes an effort to keep in touch. There were times I was sidelined by homesickness and confusion, but she always lifted my spirit by her interest-arousing chatter on the phone. She has always demonstrated what true friendship is. She, indeed is a friend of all times.

Since our high school days til now as she celebrates her birthday, diminishing signs brought about by the passing of time are unnoticeable in her. In fact, she looks more youthful now as she progresses in life age wise. Her persona never bears and accepts signs of ageing process. She is a goddess in her own right.

Today as she celebrates her xth birthday I pray that she would continue to be a blessing that she is to me and perhaps to her other friends. I wish everything she desires in life would be hers if not sooner later.

Happy Happy Birthday Cille and savour the excitement, happiness, food, etc. this moment brings.

Insoms and K-spy, thank you so much for the birthday greetings. I'm feeling great at ty4! Sorry Insoms honesty is the best policy. Ok da ibulgar kay dili sa sab katoohan,hehe. May doubt factor gayud permi. Am proud to hold a senior citizen tax exempt as well. So everytime I checkedout at the grocery store, flaunt na flaunt gayud an babaye with matching smile pa. Gets mo? so at 65 this is how i look. Maglaong gud siguro yaon mga cashiers ay ay sapiani inin babaye kay at 65 batae pa, sigi galing nan pa Dr. 90210. Balitaw numbers da iton, pero an tinood may mga wiz and waz na feelings. midlife crisis or depression baga. Laong pa ni Lay-ob ba dotlan baya si Saps? Wow kay nanga may pinalabi baya an sa taas na laktodan sa ako? Ay lagi laban laban gayud ini na sitwasyon. But with God's grace, I'm alive and kicking.
