whoever you're referring to is not edmund because edmund is seven seas away from Tandag.


GOLDBAR had its "blessing" last Saturday, 28 February, before sunrise, at 5:30. Monsignor Sid did the honors.

It was an intimate group, with only the bestest friends of owners Susie and Willie in attendance. We agreed to wear red (for good luck) and some fine jewelry (for more luck).

Soft opening is scheduled on 10 March 2009.

It was my first time to survey the place and I must say the design took my breath away: classy and cozy. and with two dumb waiters to boot! now, can you beat that?

to susie and willie--CONGRATULATIONS and here's to good business that lasts!

sinabi mo pa. zen na zen gayud. bah dihaw ako, ga hire gayud si sue and willie nan topnotch architect from manila; i heard coming from the de villa (yes, de villa!) clan.

am not saying this because sue and willie are my friends, but the place is really, really nice; something we tagon-ons can truly be proud of. i wished though that the stairs were a bit wider, and some corners child-proofed. but on the whole, it's tops!

not counting hotels, i haven't seen a resto-bar in butuan and davao that compares to the new Goldbar. this early, i already have a favorite spot, but you don't expect me to tell you where, right?

ka brayeti mo---balinese an motif nan new goldbar: trellis inside and out, exposed beams and trusses, natural light, sparse design, romance of wood, etc.

on opposite sides of every floor, there's an area where you can dine or have coffee al fresco, which means having starlit skies as canopy and loose (!!!) pebbles as floor.

and you're right again. my favorite spot is the loft just beside the main facade (that willie rendered in psychedelic gold as his only concession to the restobar's name) which has a fantastic view of the sea. and who knows, i might be favored with seagull sightings in the horizon.

i knew it! the moment i notice the loft and looks like (judging from the pics)... a mezzanine to me,like a theater balcony... amo da ba nan mga VIP area to some high-end theater to usual music bar. and the gold simply exudes elegance amidst the simplicity of the wood structures. i really,really love it!
