K-spy and Abb,

Yadi da ako. Sorry, yabisi taraw ako. Kuman pa gayud ako makalipot pag-utro kay fully-booked an ako week-end. After the movie last Friday, my husband and I had dinner somewhere, ga-date taraw gayud kami. When we got home, I watched a DVD of Barry Manilow's concert kay yakapalit kami nan upat ka discs nan concerts ni Barry sa U.S., so late na ako yakaturog. When I woke up, back to Barry Manilow's concert again until 10:00 a.m.

Tapos galuto ako, galimpyo nan bay. At 5:30 p.m. a friend came kay mangita lagi kamin concert ni Gary V. Ay, ay, yakauli kami after mignight na kay, 1:30 a.m. na.

Lamiin concert ni Gary. What is, his opening song was "Sana Maulit Muli". Then he sang a song which started him dancing on the stage. At first, it was only him who was dancing. Later on, he called on his son Gabriel and another male dancer who has worked with Gary for a long time. And they were dancing with gusto that people were already having a good time.

Gary also sang old time favorites such as,"Natutulog ba ang Diyos", "Take me Out of the Dark", etc. Part of his adlib was telling us about his family, how his father made a collection of annual videos of their family, especially Gary's mother. Some of their family pictures where shown in two big screens mounted on both sides of the stage. We saw this video of his mother doing a spanish song while Gary sat beside him, and while this was being played, Gary himself was also singing the same song live on the stage. It looked like they had a duet.

We were also treated to a song number that Gary performed while his daughter, Keana, was also singing on a video that was on the big screen.

Gary performed non-stop for two hours. He left the stage at 10:00 p.m. but the people were not leaving. An encore took place. Gary came back and sang another song. And this time the crowd was asking for more, more, more. Gary kept singing and we just kept asking for more, more, more. We were so glad to hear "How did you know?" and finally my favorite song, "I will be here." After this final song, Gary left the stage. It was already 11:00 p.m.

I felt so good to have seen Gary perform on stage. The enery was just so high I must have switched to dance mode already. I was, like many others, also singing with him while he performed "I will be here."

I woke up at 9:30 a.m. yesterday. I missed a get-together with some friends for lunch because I had to do household chores. Last night, we went to church to hear mass, and we met our friends who just got married last June in Manila. They wanted to share their wedding video with us, so, we invited them to our place last night. We saw their "dream wedding".

By the way, I liked the way the film "A Love Story" was told. And I agree with you, K-spy, that it was a cut above the rest.

Bads,

I enjoyed reading your post. It reminded me of the time Gary had his concert in Brisbane. Laong pa sa Tagalog mapapaindak ka talaga of how he executes his moves combined with his singing. Sigi Bads e post dayon an mga pics niyo kay makalipay gayod tan-awon.

6 weeks ago Dingdong Abazado and Jessa had a concert here too. Lamii an boses ni Jessa ug guapahe gayod. The venue was full packed. It was really a good concert - worth what I paid for. The bad thing, I forgot to bring my camera. I had to be with other people para makuhaan nan kodak na hangtod koman gapansusi susi pa ako kon sin-o yadton mga tag-iya nan mga camera.

bads,

i agree: TOTAL PERFORMER gayud si gary. and his son is his replica when it comes to dance moves.

i bet it was one of the zamora brothers (joshua and his bro) who was with him kay fave ni gary yaon mga zamora brothers.

i saw one concert of gary on tv where he interpreted "Anak." it was so beautiful it almost felt surreal. it gave me an idea and turned it into a "talent piece" when my nephew joined purisima school's "tuklas lakandula."

i like most of gary's songs, but my favorites are "Could You Be Messiah" and "The Warrior is a Child."

Same here K-spy, "Warrior is a Child" is also one of my favorite songs....

Allow me to share to you the lyrics....

Lately I’ve been winning battles left and right,

But even winners can get wounded in the fight.

People say that I’m amazing, strong beyond my years,

But they don’t see inside of me, I’m hiding all the tears.

They don’t know that I go running home when I fall down.

They don’t know who picks me up when no one is around.

I drop my sword and cry for just a while,

’cause deep inside this armor, the warrior is a child.
Unafraid because His armor is the best.

But even soldiers need a quiet place to rest.

People say that I’m amazing, never face retreat.

But they don’t see the enemies that lay me at His feet.

They don’t know that I go running home when I fall down.

They don’t know who picks me up when no one is around.

I drop my sword and cry for just a while,

’cause deep inside this armor, the warrior is a child.

They don’t know that I go running home when I fall down.

They don’t know who picks me up when no one is around.

I drop my sword and look up for a smile,

’cause deep inside this armor, the warrior is a child.

This song was originally written by Twila Paris.

Insoms,

I took some pictures which I downloaded immediately when I got home but I will try to ask a friend who was there to share his pictures with me because I'm sure he has better pictures than I do.

K-spy,

Gary sang "The Warrior is a Child." I like this song, too. And oh, it was the brother of Joshua Zamora, Jason, who was with Gary.

Abb,

I guess you are waiting for some news about Agnes. I am not ready yet. But I will find a way to get some more info to you later. For now, this is what I can share:

I knew somebody at Saint Theresa College who is also from Tigao. One time she told me about Agnes; that Agnes had become a doctor and was living in Tigao, providing medical services to the community, esp. those who can not afford. That story somehow inspired me, knowing Agnes.

Agnes and I were not that close, although we were together at the Casa Mides Ladies' Dormitory for almost 4 years. She belonged to the elite. She took up BS-Bio at the Ateneo de Davao, and attended Medical School either at Davao Doctors or Davao Medical School(sorry, can not remember which one).

The last time I met Agnes was in 1984. She came to John Bosco School in Mangagoy to visit one of the teachers there who was the girlfriend of the brother of Agnes or so I thought.

So, Abb, if you are really interested to know more about your classmate in 2nd grade, I can contact somebody from John Bosco and also from St. Theresa. I worked in these schools before.

Bon,

Thank you for posting the Lyrics of the song, "The Warrior is a Child."

Kamps,

Ditto. I enjoy Gary's sassy performance on stage but I like Martin most, voice wise. Bisan pa nan college pa ako mas gusto ko siya. Pero kon may magconcert ngadi bisan sin-o dili namo palabyon (if our time permits) basta lang malipay ug malingaw kami. Si Imelda Papin gani maka duha ako mangita kaniya. Ha, ha, ha. Kay duol da sa amo an concert niya.

insoms,

i agree, one-hundred-and-one-percent!

bisan ako haw aton ako, daan an ginawngan ko adto da sa concert scene. kadumdum ako pag kadto ko sa davao two weeks ago, may presentation sa SM kay grandparents' day sa baya yadto. may grupo na Voice Spell, composed mostly of student artists of davao, who did a sort of a musical/broadway revue.

basta insom min-ingkud gayud ako ngadto (gamay dan tao....grrrrrr cultural illiterates or snobs?). the group did its own versions of "ms. saigon," "les miz," "west side story," etc.... amateurish gud, but i still enjoyed it.

hapit ko dudla an director kay ayu-on ko an script kay i-mount ko sa tago, during purisima school night sa pista. hahahaha
