Hi Guys,

Further to my previous post, I owe this to you and K-Spy, you got me so curious. I played with the “translators” just now while chewing lunch.

Here’s my exercise:

Toyang is funny.

Toyang es comica.

Google Translator said: Toyang is comic.

Alexa said her classmates are failing Spanish and French because they used “computerized translations”. She’s struggling with French. Not so much with spelling, it's the pronunciations. Her tongue gets twisted she said.

Alexa dice que sus compañeros de clase no estan pasando Español y Francés porque usan "traducciones de la computadora". Ella esta luchando con el Francés. No mucho con la escritura sino con la pronunciacion. Dice que se le enreda la lengua.

This is dynamite news that the airport will reopen before the end of the year, "hopefully". Three times a week is perfect. My next wish is, I hope they will have bigger planes serve Tandag City which means the airport will have longer runway. Between us, Luis is afraid of small planes. Don't worry, next time I come, I'll bring my entire family with me. Would be lovely to see Luis wrestle a mudfish in knee deep mud. What do you think?

Lengua (Sylvia’s recipe)

INGREDIENTS:

• 1 beef tongue
• 5 fresh green chile peppers
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 1 white onion, sliced thinly
• 4 cloves garlic, minced
• 4 small tomatoes, halved and sliced
• 2 (15 ounce) cans whole kernel corn, drained
• salt to taste

DIRECTIONS:

1. Wash tongue and place in a large pot of water to cover. Simmer until no longer pink, about 50 minutes per pound of tongue. Remove from water and let rest until cool enough to handle. Peel skin from tongue and trim gristle. Cut into 1/4 inch slices.

2. Place whole peppers in a skillet over medium-high heat and roast, turning, until all sides are charred. Let cool, rub off skins. Remove stems and seeds.

3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Saute chile peppers, onion and garlic until onion is translucent. Stir in tongue and continue to cook until tongue is brown, 5 to 10 minutes. Stir in tomatoes and cook until limp, 5 minutes. Pour in corn and heat through, 2 to 5 minutes. Season with salt. Serve immediately.

Happy cooking :-D Kay ako sab balik na trabaho.

abb,

that's the beauty of GOOGLE; many don't know this, but it takes BRAINS to be able to use GOOGLE correctly. cut and paste you said? :-D ---the most common pitfall! believe it or not, i have grad school students who are fond of doing C&P in one fell swoop, including the hyperlinks that are usually written in blue. ](*,)

when they do this, they never get past first base. on top of those telltale signs i mentioned above, i look for british words (organisation, honour, etc.) and as expected, the plagiarist is unmasked. :-D

C&P is okay as long as the attribution is not forgotten. :)

abb,

don't quote me on this but the buzz here is that by december, tandag airport will be of use again. and get this: PAL Express will service the Cebu-Tandag-Cebu route with Tandaganon DPWH Undersecretary Romeo Momo as franchisee.

Below is a lift-off from the website of PAL Express.

"PAL Express is the new, low fares brand of Philippine Airlines. It was launched on May 5, 2008 with a mandate to serve mainly domestic island points and secondary routes throughout the Philippines from hubs in Cebu and Manila. In this way, PAL Express aims to boost trade, tourism and the local economy in outlying island communities.

The introduction of PAL Express is a ground-breaking step for Philippine Airlines, which created a sub-brand for the first time in its 67-year history.

PAL Express will operate an initial fleet of nine turbo-propeller aircraft – three Bombardier Q300s and six Bombardier Q400s – manufactured by Bombardier Aerospace of Canada. Eight of the nine aircraft are already in service with the last scheduled for delivery in a few weeks."
