Laong nila an taga Tago kuno para-away pero hanugay. Mamingawuni naman ganahani mandahap-dahap nan notisya. Naman ini na pabyon inhimo para kita na mga Tagon-on magkasinusihay, magka-binayluay nan mga gilaong, nan notisya, nan kaayuhan.
On May 1st I got a text from a very special friend, Raquel. She asked me if I would be able to meet her at Cape Liberty Port in New Jersey because the new cruise ship she and her husband Darko are both working at is going to dock for the inaugural sail on May 4th. I texted her back and I told her I would love to see them. I got so excited! She then asked me to text her our full names, ages and nationality because she has to file for a family pass so we’ll be allowed to visit the ship and meet them.
After countless texts and calls to figure out the perfect time ( Raquel was using her Globe line to text me, I replied using my Cingular.), we finally decided to meet today, May 06. I woke up so early to make sure I had everything ready (milk for little Jeremy, diapers, wipes, juice, etc), wake up Lemm and Jeremy Sr. Everything went well. We left home around 10.
The place was easy to find. Phing(Raquel’s nickname) kept calling me on our way there. She was worried that we wouldn’t have enough time to look around the boat because it’s so big! It’s 18 decks at 1,112 feet long and we only had until 4PM to see it.
We arrived there at 11am and met Phing at the main security gate. The security guard at the port gate was so strict. We had to show our ID’s to get sticker passes that only allow us access to the main damyo leading up to the entrance. After going up the damyo(plank), we went through the main security. That resembled the security you go through at an airport. They took our ID’s a second time. A grumpy looking, Filipino security guard took a picture of each of us to be used as our visitors ID. He was so strict, more than I had experienced at my Port of Entry to the US!
We went into a fancy rounded glass elevator up to deck 5, where Phing works. WOW! The ship was so beautiful! Everything was clean and shiny, colorful, and perfect! Phing showed us where she worked and her co-workers. Then Darko came to see us and volunteered to be our tour guide. He told us everything about the ship, and showed us all around the ship from top to bottom, even a few places the guests don’t see! Hehe! He was so good! He is very well spoken, talks about family and how he loves Arbie and their future plans. He is a very nice guy. Swerte gyud si Phing! Swerte sila pareho!
We had our lunch at the main cafeteria. They had to leave us while we ate because they are not allowed to eat with us. There were buffet counters all around the room filled with all sorts of food. Fruits, steaks, salads, drinks, wine, tanan.. Damui, Libog ako what I wanted to eat. I had this chicken with beans and pepper. It was very delicious! Lemm got something I don’t know what it’s called. Jeremy had bread and something.
We met up again but this time it was just with Raquel because Darko had to go to work. We went to the arcade and the kids playroom. Little Jeremy had a blast playing at the computer and ship jungle gym. Phing and I had a very nice talk.
It was 4PM na.. pinapaalis na an bisita. Phing had to go to work too . We headed back to deck 5 and had some ice cream before saying our thank you’s and goodbye’s.
It was soooo much fun being able to experience your cruise ship and of course being with somebody you used to be with back home. You are so much fun to be with.. we always have the same ideas on things especially when we talk about personal matters. Kahidumdom ako permi nan ato mga telebabad sa Manila.
Thank you so much Phing for the friendship you always show me. I love talking to you… you always have good wisdom. God blessed you with the kind of life you have now because like your Ate Amor, you are such a nice sister. I will always treasure the friendship we have.
