FIDEL P. PORTILLO,SR. - In Memoriam-
On behalf of the entire clan, I would like to thank everybody who condoled with us, oferred prayers; brought flowers, foods and services. SALAMATI SA TANAN!!! We're all sure that Lolo Fidel is with The Master now. He died on his sleep peacefully on June 10,2006. It was a double celebration indeed - coincides with Mookie's 9th birthday. Mookie's (Tats & Henrich) firstborn is Lolo Fidel first great grandson. We celebrated not only for Mookie's birthday but also for Lolo Fidel's departure to High Heavens.
Lolo's death brought (almost) everyone home. makai arrived from iceland, lolo meldz &johnjoe from cag. de oro, rpl nd auntie melyn, sr. adelina from iloilo, lolo panking & uncle jojo from surigao, auntie belen and uncle ben from laguna; and from Nanay's Abe side all the way from davao, lianga. It was a reunion! Happy to see everybody! sad, for we will never see Lolo Fidel again.
During the necrological services sponsored by the Sangguniang Bayan of Tago (June 16), the young generations learned that Lolo was a true public servant as number 1 councilor from 1951-1956. There was a great flood then, Lolo spearheaded the relief distribution in a johnsonmotorboat sans funding of what is now called the Disaster Coordinating Council.
We knew that Lolo agreed to what has been said about him during the eulogy of Iyo Anto Luna, Vice Aloysius and Mayor JP becuase of the heavy downpour.... PATO loves the rain (er flooding from the rain).
Here are some of the pictures taken during the wake, mass sponsored by the Prado Family, and some light moments...
